Business Decision Making - Essay Example However, the introduction of internet made it necessary for technology companies to design products which would help people to access this vast space of information. That is when these companies came up with innovations such as smart phones and tablets. Since then the number of people using these products have sky rocketed. With the use of these products people have also craved for other peripherals such as Bluetooth speakers, external headphones, wired speakers, Bluetooth microphones and so on and so forth. It is with regards to these requirements that our company is endeavouring to introduce a Bluetooth enabled speaker which has unmatched quality of sound output and also comes at a very low price. This product is set to compete with the likes of products manufactured by Sony, JBL and Sennheiser. The underlying rationale of this market research plan is to learn about needs and requirements of the target audience. This will help the companyââ¬â¢s managers to have a holistic view of the market as well as learn about the expectations of its target market. Moreover the analysts will also be able to make an estimation of the price that should be placed for this particular product. The objective of this market research is to conduct a detailed study of the target market (tablet users in UK) which in turn will help the organizational managers to understand the factors that will serve as a key determinant of the productââ¬â¢s success. In order to conduct this research in an appropriate manner, a mix method approach needs to be adopted where the researcher will be conducting surveys as well as interviews with households in the UK. The higher income households will be interviewed while the households within the lower income range will be included within the survey. The underlying reason behind the application of a mixed method approach is to have a holistic view of the issues that is being researcher. It will enable the researcher to have an in-depth idea about the needs

Project part - Essay Example These stores are spread in countries like US, Canada, China and Puerto Rico. In the year 2007, the company was able announce and expand its operation up to 40 percent that prospected an increase in stores to a tune of 1800 globally on top of the already existing 1400 stores that operate in US. This great company traces its roots back in 1966 in the state of Minnesota a place called St. Paul where it was called Sound Music Store. (Pinkerton 12) The company waded through the murky waters of business, beating competition until the year 1983 when it rebranded to Best Buy with its first store opening in Burnsville in Minnesota. The company managed to feature in the Forbes magazine in the year 1993 where it was ranked as the second largest consumer shop that retails in electronics thus making it number 373 out of top 500 companies in the US. In the year 1999 the company partnered with Microsoft that enabled it to open a sourcing point and a store in Shanghai, China in the year 2003 and 2007 respectively. The company is now completing its expansion process of putting up stores in countries like Turkey and Mexico as a process of continuing with its global expansion. The company is glorified by becoming the first one ever in the year 1997 in the history of US that pioneered the sale of DVD hardware and software, again it also managed to be the first company that helped in the digital migration from analogue ten years later. The la st fortune came when the company was named company of the year in the Forbes magazine in the year 2004. (Pinkerton,
Genetically Modified Food Essay Example for Free
Genetically Modified Food Essay Genetically engineered food is an epidemic all around the world. There are factors that make these types of foods undesirable for many reasons. Public opinions on how genetically engineered foods will effect the consumer market and farmers cannot afford the new seeds that are genetically altered. There are many cons of genetically engineered food that have long term and short term risks. Some risks have been found by scientists while other risks are still unknown and will remain so unless a researcher tests for them. These foods have become very common in America as well as other countries. Almost every grocery store in the United States carries a wide array of food that has been genetically modified. Most of the genetically engineered foods in markets are not labeled to tell consumers they were altered in any way. Environmental risks are also a concern for genetically engineered food. Different animals, including farm animals or insects can be harmed from genetically engineered food. Genetically engineered food has negative effects on the human population. Genetically engineered food was first introduced into society in the early 1990ââ¬â¢s. Many people today do not know what kind of extensive research and development goes into making these types of foods. Sharon Palmer, a reporter, writes that genetic engineering is either ââ¬Å"Doomsday techâ⬠or ââ¬Å"biotechnology for the futureâ⬠(Palmer 1). The process of altering an organism completely changes the original organism and transforms it into something new. This new way of altering an organismââ¬â¢s genetic makeup bypasses common breeding methods used by scientists (Genetically Modified Foods 1). The process of creating genetically altered food usually involves ââ¬Å"identifying the genes governing a desirable characteristic in one organism, nd inserting them into another in the expectation that the trait will be transferredâ⬠(Genetically Modified Foods 1). Sometimes the process of creating these organisms does not work so scientists have to do the process over again until they get a transformed organism. In 1973 scientists were able to achieve using another organism as a vector which essentially was the beginning of the development of genetically engineered foods. Although genetically engineered foods were not fully introduced until the early 1990s, they were in the process of becoming what society knows today. Newer techniques have been introduced that make it easier for gene insertion. This new method is the use of DNA bullets where ââ¬Å"microscopic metal beads can be coated with DNA fragments, and then ââ¬Å"firedâ⬠from a miniature gun into the host cell, where DNA may integrate into the genomeâ⬠(Genetically Modified Foods 1). A few of the genetically engineered foods are soybeans, corn, canola, cotton, squash and papaya (Palmer 1). There are many other foods that people see on the shelves in grocery stores that may be genetically altered but these are some main ones. Statistics show that ââ¬Å"an estimated 70 to 75 percent of all processed foods in U. S. rocery stores probably contain ingredients from GE plantsâ⬠(Palmer 6). Many foods have been genetically altered to make them ââ¬Å"betterâ⬠or resistant to herbicides. Despite the fact that scientists consider these foods to be revolutionary there are hidden consequences to the development of such organisms. The public opinion on genetically engineered food is that it is not a good improvement. Many citizens believe that the introduction of altered foods is going to have negative side effects on everything. People feel that genetically engineered foods should not be put on the market until they have had adequate testing (Current Issues 3). Many of the alterations done to food have not had extensive research conducted to find harmful effects that they might have on humans and animals. Any research that had been done usually had negative effects but scientists found a way to ââ¬Å"throw outâ⬠the research so that it would not go against genetically engineered food. Andrew Simms states that the ââ¬Å"evidence of harm is not evidence of the absence of harmâ⬠(Simms 1). In Simmââ¬â¢s article he describes how consumers do not need genetically modified food. Scientists brought genetically engineered foods into the market and advertised them as a way to help the world. Different techniques can be used to approach the issue of world hunger. Introducing these foods to third world countries can only harm them not help them. There is a high cost of development for making genetically engineered foods. Also there is a monopoly involved with these foods. There are only a few corporations in the United States that are developing genetically altered seeds. This in turn drives up the price of the seed making it more expensive and poor farmers cannot afford to buy them (Current Issues 3). Farmers have lost billions of dollars because foreign buyers do not want to buy genetically engineered foods (Kupfer 1). Many states have passed legislation against having genetically modified foods. States do not think that genetically engineered foods can help anything except make things worse (Kupfer 2). Foods are altered to have different traits that would normally take a few generations to make but with genetically engineering their DNA scientists are able to do a lot more. Scientist use genetic engineering to make crops or animals drought tolerant and be able to tolerate pests. Consumers do not want crops that are mutations. They want natural crops and animals. Other public opinions on worldwide hunger are that GM crops will not change it. ââ¬Å"People go hungry because theyââ¬â¢re either poor, powerless, both, or have no land to grow food onâ⬠(Simms 2). Public opinion on genetically engineered food is that they do not want it. Many factors have led people to choose not to accept genetically engineered foods into their lives. Genetically engineered food effects everything in a negative way. There are cons to the development and introduction of genetically engineered foods into civilization. There are many risks involved with these types of foods that are unknown to the public. Scientists try to cover up the experiments they had on genetically altered foods because they had negative outcomes. In one study scientists fed corn to rats and then checked the ratsââ¬â¢ livers and kidneys, particularly males, and the study revealed adverse effects. In another study conducted on GM foods many of the mice that ate the food developed health problems or even died during the experiment (Current Issues 4). The introduction of genetically engineered foods has been linked to the rising levels of food allergies in the United States. Genetically modified foods can effect organic foods if they are processed in the same place. Allergic reactions are greater since genetically engineered foods have been introduced (Smith 1). There are many environmental concerns as well. Although long term impact is unknown many researchers can conclude some of the negative side effects. A few difficulties have already developed. Plants can cross-pollinate with other plants around them which may seem like a great thing but it is not. Some plants are engineered to be pest resistant which seems good but in all actuality those plants can cross-pollinate with the weeds around them which in turn makes the weeds stronger and become more resistant to herbicides. The cross-pollination of plants creates a problem for farmers who then have to spend additional money to buy more herbicide to kill new weeds (Current Issues 3). Another common modification is adding a gene called Bacillus thuringiensis which is a bacterium that helps that plant develop poison that kills pests such as bollworms and stem borers. This seemed like a good modification by scientists but in fact the plant emits these toxins into the environment and it is deadly to all insects, not just the pests. Reports have been shown that these toxins from the crops also killed a large amount of butterflies (Current Issues 1). U. S. Government does not require reviews on genetically engineered foods. Genetically altered foods are not FDA regulated either. Foods are being modified without having adequate testing and then put on grocery shelves. People are eating food that they do not know whether or not it is safe. There are many other potential concerns with genetic engineering like an organisms genetic makeup, anti-nutrients, viral DNA, antibiotic resistant genes, absorbing genes, and allergic responses. Many genetically altered foods have been used as feed for animals as well. These animals have shown effects on body growth, changes in blood, kidney, pancreas, liver, erosion and necrosis of the gastrointestinal tract, and alterations in reproduction, development and mortality (Palmer 6). There are many unknown risks of genetically engineered foods. Unknown long term health risks have not been identified and cannot be identified until researchers conduct more research. Genetically modified foods are not something people should rely on in the future as their base food. There are risks today and also many other unknown risks. Genetically engineered food is a hazard to the human population. This creation was introduced to try and stop world hunger, make food cheaper to buy and many other reasons. These issues have not changed because of the introduction of genetically engineered food. The effects these types of foods have on humans and even animals can be harmful. Research shows that there are long term risks involved with genetically engineered foods. Potential cancers, diseases, environmental changes, and possibly a rising cost in food are all negative factors of genetically engineered food. Genetically engineered foods should be eliminated from people and animalââ¬â¢s diets.

Develop A Change Management Strategy With Stakeholders Business Essay
Develop A Change Management Strategy With Stakeholders Business Essay The stakeholder is most important part of stakeholder management. Analysis of stakeholder is the process of to knowing the groups or individual those are possible to affect or be pretentious by a proposed action and organisation to their impact on the. It is significant to value the perspective ofà stakeholders. They should be able to involve in direction of a business, as if a wrong decision is made against their will, they would haveà lost investmentà in a way that could have been avoided (Friedman (2000)).à Stakeholders must be fulfilled at least modestly or public policies, organisations, community, or even countries and civilization will not succeed (Huntingdon (1996)). Specific stakeholder definition be different, concurs in the need for stakeholder support to construct and continue pleasing coalitions (Riker 1986; Baumgartner and Jones, 1993) and to make certain continuing possibility of organisations (Eden and Ackermann (1998), Bryson, Gibbons and Shay (2000), Abramson and Kamensky, (2001)) as well as strategy, strategy, and preparation. Here factors which affects strength of stakeholder organisation: Establishment: independent with clear objects and configuration.(Terry Macdonald, 2008) Member: Representative and acceptable, high level of association. Financial funds : acceptable and sustainable to fund involvement Staff and workplace holders: appropriate skills to bring selected functions. This includes strong support skills. Policy: clear and attainable polices. Visibility: to be identify for task accomplishment (Jaime Rivera, ((2007) Further that analysis of Stakeholder firstly to identify who are stakeholders then after to find out influence, interest and power, so you know to whom you should focus. Finally the good understanding of the stakeholder management of visibility is encouraged by the personal goals and moral concerns and thats why it is important for managing impressions and group change. The finally expand a good considerate of the most significant stakeholders. So that you know how they are probable to take achievement that you can outline this analysis on a stakeholder management Develop a change management strategy with stakeholders Strategy for stakeholder Classify the stakeholders whose commitment is required. Each kind of stakeholder, explain the required change, superficial benefits and anticipated resistance.( Michael Jay Polonsky,à 2008) Expand accomplishment plans together with ones for the stakeholder groups that are not satisfactorily commit. Significant group regularly ignored is higher-level organisation; they must be integrated one of the key groups. (Rogers, Everett M.2003) Change management strategy Change management strategy is key factor for organisation. It is involve direct or indirect in to business therefore each and every time business has to keep changing in process of organisation. (Robert S. Kaplan and David P. [internet] http://finntrack.co.uk/learners/strategic_renewal.htm) EXPLAIN THE MODEL ABOVE WHAT DOES IT SHOW Change leadership: organisational change need rapidly change with leadership were mobilized change through executive leadership and need strategic decision making Stakeholder commitment: it is important for organisation that commitment from stakeholder and to make decision for supplementary benefits. Business Disciplines: executive strategies to work, they must be related and integrated transversely many function finance, manufacturing, sales, marketing and other. The Balanced Scorecard can association these different and dispersed functions. Structure: increasing methods to continue the change. Talent creation: increasing skills and knowledge to support the change in organisation. Pay and intensive: for growth of organisation its also important to manage pay and intensive for employee. WHERES REFERENCE However, were stakeholders have been identified; their interest of organisation, characteristics and circumstances to be better understood. It is particularly important that stakeholders communicate their own concern. Here checklist of questions for each stakeholder group capacity is counting. What are the expectations of the policies or institution of stakeholders? What kind of stakeholders benefits and costs? What are the difference conflicts with the objectives of the policy or institution stakeholder interests? Which kind of stakeholders recourses has the mobilised? Here some useful methodologies are there bringing a strategic change WHERES REFERENCE Brainstorming (Namken and Rapp, 1997) Brainstorming is a trouble solve method ( namken and rapp,1997). Brainstorming is not a part of strategic development, but is used as put into operation throughout the planning process. It is a useful for allocation ideas with group or more then one person system to learn. (Reinig, Briggs, Nunamaker, 2007) Different points in the planning, the facilitator may engage the group in brainstorming techniques. However to be successful, a brainstorming session must pursue four rules which are expressiveness, postpone idea evaluation, .quantity versus quality and piggyback ideas (Forsythe, 2010). Semi-structured interviews Interviewing is one of the general tools and techniques for organisation. It is good for small sector but not suitable for large number of study (Drever, Eric 1995).It is useful for comfortable checklist of issue. At the same time as consent to other issues to occur and be pursue. This approach is mostly supportive for cross-checking, classification of common position, identification of tradeoffs and identification of managerial frameworks of stakeholders. Digging up existing data Collection of recorded materials may tool shed light on stakeholders security, individuality and situation. Well its always meaningful inquisitive and look through for information and recording information. There is almost for eternity additional of it than at initial come into view and occasionally establish in the most unlikely places. Time lines It can be arranged with stakeholders of the record of associations and contact of challenging policies, establishment and process, with discussion of basis and effect of a range of changes. Diagrams Diagrams may help many people to get a fast idea of what is designed or talk as regards. Well they can work to motivate conversation by both literate and non literate group. However diagram and visualisations work present a focus for notice while converse an issue, signify complex issues basically, motivate ideas and consequently assist in management. Intermittently people didnt work well in stipulations of diagrams think or and rather verbal conversation with images of real examples and furthermore story. Evaluate the system stakeholders in the planning of change Consequently research manager classify and compliant of the level of effort to allocate to individually stakeholder and preferred form of obligation and determine reliability. Dedication of stakeholder facilitate for dynamic development all the way through the process of planning and project. Previously period of stakeholders obligation most important issue is to identification from the concurrence establishment level and after that makes that program in to the important implement and develops throughout the processes of intensification. Thus, helpful commitment provide revelation of is recent expectation. The primary commitment obtains just about a problem or predicament in contras with the instant situation. Commitment of stakeholders requirements is to managing and describe with sentimental superior strategy. Purpose of organisation must gives result of development, budget and manage all responsibility of organisation. Differentiate of predicament management stakeholder management and stake holder engagement Stakeholder engagement characterized: Ongoing and Early Stakeholder Consultation Consultation founded on well developing some understanding and agreement between stake holders communicated plan which is developing more and more effective consultation process. purpose any pre-conditions for consultation affected stakeholders issues prioritised carefully selected engagement methodologies clearly identified individual responsibility among the program and project levels Document consultation process and actions and feedback to stakeholders Comprehensive and Timely Information Disclosure factual information earliest possible disclosure identify with timing related risks enthusiastically available admiration for perceptive information planned to assist engagement Create a strategy for managing resistance to change One of the main problem facing leading executive is that of effecting important strategic change in their organizations. It develops a number of expounding frameworks which contrate on the links between the development of strategy in organizations, proportions of mutual culture and managerial accomplishment. In allowing for such linkages, by illustrate them with examples from work undertaken in company, it also seeks to advance our understanding of the problems and means of managing change. Managing Resistance to Change is a methodology that is designed to help people in organisations face resistance and cross the street to actually manage the transitions experienced within organisational change. Ways to reduce resistance to change: Involve interested parties in the planning of change by asking them for suggestions and incorporating their ideas. clearly explain the need for the change by communicating the strategic decision personally and in written form. Address the people needs of those involved. Disrupt only what needs to be changed. Help people retain friendships, comfortable settings and group norms wherever possible. design the flexibility into change by phasing it wherever possible. This will allow people to complete current efforts and assimilate new behaviors along the way. Allow employees to redefine their roles during the course of implementing change. be open and honest. do not leave openings for people to return to the status quo. If you and your organisations are not ready to commit yourselves to the change, dont announce the strategy. Focus continually on the positive aspects of the change. Be specific where you can. Deliver training programs that develop basic skills as opposed to processes such as: conducting meetings, communication, teambuilding, self-esteem, and coaching. Create a strategy for managing resistance to change Method of managing resistance design to change is that to help people in organisation face and to cross boundaries. Actually control the transition practiced inside organisational change. How to decrease resistance to change: In the planning of change by asking gathering and involve interested people for proposition and integrate their ideas. Distribute training planning that develops basic skills as contrasting to processes such as: performing meetings, communication, teambuilding, self-worth, and lessons. Evidently classify requirement for the change through communicating the strategic decision individually and in on paper form. To be honest and open. Deal with the needs of community of those occupied. Interrupt only what requirements to be changed. Help people preserve friendships, contented settings and group standard wherever potential. Focal point frequently on the helpful aspects of the change. Where you can be specific. When possible making change by phasing it. It will allow people to entire efforts and incorporate new behaviours by the side of the way. Allocate workforce to redefine their roles throughout the course of put into operation of change. Be able to plan to implement models for ensuring ongoing change Develop appropriate models for change Thus, over many years of research in management, johns Kotter have established that most of all major change efforts in organisations are unsuccessful (Dr.john Kotter). Why do they not succeed? For the reason that organisations may be over and over again do not take the holistic approach requisite to see the change through. Conversely, following the 8-Step Process outline by Dr. Kotter, organisations can keep away from malfunction and become practiced at change. Organisations can expand their probability of success by improving their ability to change, both today and in the potential. Organisations cannot succeed, without this aptitude to become accustomed constantly. Following the 8 Step Process for Change will assist organisations accomplishes something in an increasingly changing world. 8 steps model by Dr. Jhon kotter (http://gtwebmarque.com/wikis/gtwm/index.php/Change_Management) Increase Urgency In rush to build a plan and obtain action, most organisation ignore this step. Certainly close to 50% of the organisation that be unsuccessful to build required change make their mistakes at the beginning. Organisation may take too lightly how hard it is to force people out of their console region or miscalculate how successfully they have done or basically lack of complaint needed to expand suitable urgency. On the other hand, identify with the importances of a sense of urgency are good at attractive of the pounding their organisation and powerful whether the state of the organisation is: Complacencyà Satisfaction can take place whether organisation is at the top of their market or facing insolvent. It is a state people fail to respond to signs that actions have to be taken, significant themselves and each other. False urgencyà Community are full of activity, functioning but their actions dont result in helping the Create organisation accomplish something in their most important objective True urgencyà Every single day people are evidently focused on building real progress. To enormous hazards urgent behaviour is driven by a principle that the world contains great opportunities and. It inspires a gut-level resolve to move, and win, now. Build Guiding Coalition To put together a group with sufficient power to guide the change no one person, no substance how proficient, is capable of without help:à increasing the correct vision,à communicating it to vast numbers of people,à eradicates all of the key impediments,à produce short term be successfulà most important and organisation major of change developments, Fasten latest approaches subterranean in an organisations ethnicity.à The significance of panels to assessment creation in a speedily changing world, multifaceted organisations are enforced to make decisions more rapidly and with not as much of certainty as they would like and with superior forfeit than they would have a preference. It is clear managers, acting in concert, are the only efficient being that can make productive decisions under these situations. There are four character of an Effective Guiding Coalition: Position Power, expertise, credibility, leadership. The assemblys are supposed to have enough verified leaders to be able to drive the change procedure.à Get the vision right To make patent how the upcoming will be different from the times past. Truthful apparition serves three significant functions. Primary it makes things easier thousands of more complete decisions, second, it motivates people to take action in the right direction even if the primary steps are tender, and third, it assist to organize the actions of different people in a amazingly fast and efficient way. A clear and powerful vision will do far more than an demanding order or micromanagement can ever hope to accomplish.à Several visions are deceptively mundane. The vision is part of a larger organisation that comprises strategies planning and budgets. Although the vision is attach that holds these belongings in concert and makes sense of them together for the intellect and the heart. A good vision can demand give up enterprises stakeholders in command to produce a better future for all. Thus, visions must be seen as tactically practicable To be effective. must take into, a vision description the current actuality of the enterprise, but also set forth goals that are truthfully determined. However leaders know how to make these determined goals look achievable. Vision must provide real guidance; it must be focused, flexible and simple to correspond. It must together motivate action and lead that action. It should be making relevant decisions, but not be so constricting as to decrease the possibility of empowering action. Finally, it must be communicable. If it cannot be explained quickly in a way that makes intuitive sense, it becomes useless. Effective visions have six key characters, imaginable, desirable, feasible, focused, flexible, and communicable. Communication for buy-in As many people as possible ensuring, understand and accept the vision, in advance a considerate and commitment to a new direction is never an easy assignment, particularly in composite organisations. Under communication and inconsistency are uncontrolled. In cooperation create stalled alteration. Therefore most organisation under communicate their visions by at least a factor a single memo publicizing the transformation or even a series of speeches by the management and the executive team are never enough. To be effective, the vision must be communicated in hour-by-hour actions. The vision will be referred to in emails, in meetings, in arrangement it will be corresponded everywhere.à Communicating the vision for the revolution, there are some things to continue in mind, the vision should be: simple, vivid, repeatable, invitational. Enable Action As possible removing as many barriers and unleash people to do their most excellent work. Structural barrier many times the interior structure of organisation is at chances with the change vision. Organisations that declare to desire to be customer focused finds its structures section resources and responsibilities for products and service. Organisation that assert to desire to build more local receptiveness have layers of management that second deduction and disapprove of provincial decisions. Organisation desires to amplify productivity and become a low-priced manufacturer have massive staff groups that constantly initiate valuable measures and program. Many times, these are the most difficult barrier to get past because they are part of the interior structure of the company. Realigning motivation and presentation appraisal to reflect the change vision can have a sympathetic effect on the ability to complete the change vision. Create short terms wins In the center leaders for long-term change attempt, short-term wins are necessary. Without attention running a change effort to short-term presentation is very risky. The conducting alliance becomes a significant force in identifying important improvements that can occur between six and 18 months. These wins help ensure the generally change initiatives success. Investigate shows that companies that experience significant short-term wins by fourteen and twenty-six months after the change initiative begins are much more likely to complete the transformation.à Comprehend these improvements is a challenge. In any change initiative, program get belated, there is a desire to ensure that customers are not affected; political forces are at work all of which slow the ability to carry out as promised. Though, short-term wins are important. Dont let up Confrontation is always to come in the wings to re-assert it. Thus if you are successful in the early stages, you may just drive resistors underground where they remain for an opportunity to appear when you least anticipate it. They might celebrate and then suggest taking a break to savor the victory. The consequences of letting up can be very dangerous, the new behaviors and practices must be driven into the culture to ensure long-term success.à Once regression begins, rebuilding momentum is a daunting task successful major change initiative, have some steps as bellow: More project being added supplementary people being brought in to facilitate with the changes Senior managements focused on giving simplicity to an aligned vision and shared principle Employees give power to at all levels to lead development concentrated interdependencies between areas of business continuous attempt to keep importance high regular show of proof that the new method is working Make it stick Secure latest approach in the ethnicity for sustained change new practices must produce deep roots in order to stay behind firmly planted in the culture. It is composed of norms of behavior and shared values. These societal forces are extremely strong. Each and every individual that connect an organisation is indoctrinated into its culture. Generally without even realizing its inaction is maintained by the combined group of employees over years and existence. Modify whether consistent or inconsistent with the older culture are difficult to ingrain.à Cultural change comes last, not first You must be able to establish that the new way is superior to the old The achievement must be visible and well communicated strengthen the culture with every new employee 4.3 build up suitable method to monitor development Regular evaluation of development is essential in instruct to ensure that arrangement purpose are accomplished in a timely conduct course improvement may be requisites as new information be converted into available or new prospects or intimidation expand. The determining procedure of confined presentation process and performance results should be translucent and willingly obtainable to the public. The presentation outcome for each contributes programs should also be release for reconsider, as production, workforce and skilled job seeker all require to be acquainted with services work. Additional, tax payers have to be informed of the point to which the expenses of public funds give way result helpful to the community. Contributor and other associates that do not meet presentation standards or precede the arrangement aims and objectives should obtain technical support to improve their service release. If organisations or individuals do not achieve improved results, they have to be authorized and finally dropped from the public labour force in organisation. Funds should be attached to presentation capacity which explanation for the particular challenges of effective in diverse community.

Ignored Technology :: Technological Writing Essays
Ignored Technology A problematic theory that has been hard for me to accept is the notion that writing itself is considered to be a technology. Whenever I think of what the word ââ¬Å"technologyâ⬠means the mental images that come to my mind are computers, automobiles and other modern conveniences. I had never considered writing to be in this category however, when all of the modern inventions are taken away it is easy to see this new truth. Writing is a technology that most Americans take for granted, probably due mostly to our advancement in technological resources, but nevertheless taken for granted. Through this writing experience I was both better able and prepared to come to my own conclusions and now I can accept this new classification in my mind and vocabulary. The first aspect of this project was to come up with a way of writing that was permanent, portable and creative. When I read over the assignment the first writing surface that popped into my mind was tree bark. This would be the perfect writing surface because the inside of the tree bark is usually somewhat flat and lightly colored. Next, I thought about how I would write on the inside of this bark. I remembered back to my days of being an outdoorsy type of young girl and the campfires my family would build. I distinctly remembered how the sticks would become black on the ends when we were cooking our marshmallows to make Sââ¬â¢mores. We used to ââ¬Å"writeâ⬠on the wood that was piled and ready to be put into the fire with our blackened sticks. So, for this project I thought I might try the same principle from my campfire days. I was a little concerned about finding a nice piece of bark in this winter weather, but one day my dad was doing some outside work and happened to stumble across a dead tree that was just beyond the property line. The tree had a large piece of bark hanging from one of the limbs. He just gave the chunk of bark a tug and I had my writing surface. That part came much more easily than I had originally anticipated. The next part of the project was finding my writing tool.

The Study Of Imagery In Adrian :: essays research papers
In all the aspects of literature, authors use literary devices to add suspense, depth and significance to their works. This concept is valid in 'Adrian Mole: The Wilderness Years'; by Sue Townsend . The diary-type story revolves around a young adult named Adrian, who constantly goes through the tragedies of life, but finally with some fortunate fate, achieves to live a life in which he cannot 'fail to see the happiness.'; (p 267) Therefore, in order to make the readers laugh at several tragedies of life, Townsend establishes an accurate use of the literary devices of irony, satire and exaggeration to create a humorous plot. Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Irony is a significant literary device, which is used many times to achieve a good sense of humor. A perfect example for a use of irony is seen in the description of the psychologist of the main character, Lenora. Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã 'After all, she was just a psychologist. God ! She wasn't ! Apart from Pandora [his infatuated love] she was probably the loveliest woman I have ever spoken to. I found it hard to take my eyes off her black suede shoes with high heels. ' (p. 35)'; Ã Ã Ã Ã Ã Before the entrance of Adrian to the psychologist's room, he obviously does not expect much of a physical appearance. However, after he enters the room, ironically, Lenora turns out to be a smashing woman. Another use of irony is present in Adrian's description of his mother in the new year's eve: 'As she slopped wine into a plastic glass for me, I could have a chance to take a close look at her. Her lips were surrounded red, her hair was blonde and glossy. Her cleavage wrinkled and her belly protruded from the little black dress (very little) she wore. The poor woman was forty-seven, and twenty-three years older than her second husband.'; (p. 3) Here, first Mrs. Mole is described as if she is a twenty-year-old girl, but in the end of the description, he reveals her actual age – 47 – which is rather ironic for such an appearance. Last and the most obvious, Adrian's Russia Trip turns out to be ironic: 'Saturday, August 17th: There is no cruise ship. There are no passengers. Each member of our party is paddling their own canoe. I am crouched inside a two-man tent. Outside are swarms of huge, black mosquitoes. They are waiting for me to emerge. With a bit of luck, I will die in my sleep.

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich Essay
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich Essay Prompt 2: Many of the characters in One Day in the Life represent specific human qualities and the suitability or value of those qualities for the life in the camps. What characters does Shukov view positively and why? Who are the flawed characters and what are their failings? What about their life before the camps hurts or helps their chances of survival once inside? In assessing these people, what does Shukov reveal about his own values? In Aleksandr Solzhenitsynââ¬â¢s novel, One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich, the main character Ivan Denisovich Shukov is an inmate serving his eighth year in a Russian labor camp. Shukov had been sentenced to ten years and three days (the three days are make-up days to compensate for leap years) for supposedly being a Nazi spy (182). In reality, he had been imprisoned by the Germans and somehow managed to escape. In the eyes of the Soviets, those who did escape were considered Nazi spies; thus, Shuk ov was forced to admit that he was a spy in order to live (70).Solzhenitsyn further describes Shukovââ¬â¢s traits as well as the characteristics of the people he comes in contact with on a daily basis in this novel. Ivan Denisovich Shukov is part of a work gang, who is referred to as Gang 104. In this work gang, Shukov associates with many menââ¬âincluding those whom he views positively as well as some whom he views negatively. Alyoshka the Baptist, Senka Klevshin, Andrei Prokofyevich Tyurin, Pavlo, Jan Kildigs, Tsezar Markovich, Gopchik and Captain Buynovsky are all whom Shukov views positively and are either part of Gang 104 or are somehow associated with the work gang.Although there are many of whom Shukov views positively, there is also one in particular whom he views negatively, Fetyukov. These men all have specific human qualities that may help or harm them in their chances of survival in the labor camps. Alyoshka the Baptist and Senka Klevshin are two of whom Shukov vi ews positively, but in different ways. They are both quiet men who have been sentenced for 25 years in the labor camps, but for different reasons. Alyoshka was sentenced just for being a Baptist and Klevshin was sentenced because he had been with the Americans for a mere two days (45,126).Shukov views Alyoshka in a positive manner because he is an extremely optimistic and generous person despite his surroundings. He does favors for everyone and does whatever asked of him without complaint (109). Alyoshka sees prison as a good thing since he claims that he has time to focus on and think about his soul. These positive thoughts will help Alyoshkaââ¬â¢s chances in prison because he will be extremely resilient to any harsh conditions. Klevshin is also favored by Shukov because of the loyalty he shows to his fellow workmates. His loyalty to Shukov was notable especially when he purposely ran slowly in order for Shukov to catch up to him leaving the Power Station work site (114). Shukov knew that Klevshin would rather be in trouble along with Shukov instead of letting him get punished on his own (114). This kind of loyalty will help Klevshin in camp life because he will gain a considerable amount of respect from other workmates. Andrei Prokofyevich Tyurin and Pavlo are two foremen of Gang 104ââ¬âboth whom Shukov views positively and respects. The foremen are both strict and caring people whom have gained much respect from the inmates they watch over. Tyurin is described as a fierce and smart leader who saw that the men were well fed and had good rations (46). These foremenââ¬â¢s traits keep the men in Gang 104 better off than the rest and inspire them to work harder for their gang. Two others whom Shukov respect are Jan Kildigs and Tsezar Markovich. These men are both rich and receive bimonthly parcels.Jan Kildigs is a Latvian bricklayer who is loved for his sense of humor (56). Shukov respected Kildigs because he worked with prideââ¬âhe did not like to r ush his work and enjoyed taking his time to do things right (109). Tsezar was highly regarded by Shukov because of his characterââ¬âhe was respectful and trustworthy (48). The two men have a high chance of survival in the labor camps because they gave all the right people a handout and bribery worked wonders in the camp (48). Gopchik and Captain Buynovsky were also favored by Shukov.Gopchik was only about sixteen years old and was jailed for bringing milk to Ukrainian guerillas (63). He was very crafty and Shukov felt that he had potential to be a good camp dweller (149). Gopchik was smart and Shukov thought highly of him, even saying that he has potential to have a good job in the camp, such as a bread cutter (150). Gopchikââ¬â¢s craftiness would give him a high chance of survival as compared to others. One of the ââ¬Å"othersâ⬠would be Captain Buynovsky, who seems to be in a state of denial. He is a proud man who as an ex-Captain who according to Shukov, had no idea h ow to look after himself. However, he is diligent and works hardââ¬âwhich Shukov admires him for. Fetyukov, on the other hand, is a scavenger whom Shukov views negatively. Fetyukov was a leech and beggar who did everything in his power for extra food and cigarette butts (31). Many, including Shukov, pitied him at times but also despised his actions. Fetyukov was lazy and made work easier for himself by cheating. For example, while carrying mortar, he would purposely splash some out of his handbarrow so that it would be lighter to carry (101). Fetyukov further degraded himself by begged for food which at times backfired. He was greedy and scrounged for extra bread or other types of food and was even beaten by the Guards for licking bowls in the mess hall (163). In Shukovââ¬â¢s eyes, people like Fetyukov would only survive by relying on othersââ¬â¢ pity and generosity towards him. Shukov also found ways to benefit himself, but he did so with dignity and pride, unlike Fetyukov .Instead of begging for tobacco or food, Shukov would work for his share or discretely hint that he wanted something regardless of how much he actually wanted it. For example, when it came to tobacco, Shukov would merely just stand next to someone smoking, and without saying anything, the smoker would ask if he wanted the butt of his cigarette (26). Shukov also worked for his tobacco by making slippers from rags or patching jerkins (156). He also haggled his way into getting a larger share of tobacco from those selling it (158).Shukov not only worked for his tobacco, but also for his food. He would volunteer to wait in line for people in hope that they will give him their share of food, in which most of the time, they did (142). Ivan Denisovich Shukov was a proud man who was competitive and meticulous in his work ethics. The best example of his pride and competitiveness would be when he says that ââ¬Å"heââ¬â¢d feel pretty sore if others in the village got ahead of him (44). â⠬ Shukov was a skilled carpenter who was proud of his work and enjoyed doing things correctly. He would correct others when they were doing something wrong, such as cutting tarred paper incorrectly (64). He also showed how meticulous he was by straightening othersââ¬â¢ work and by carefully selecting his own cinder blocks to fit into spaces perfectly (110). Shukov worked quickly, was a very hard worker and stayed behind to finish his and othersââ¬â¢ jobs because he felt that he could not let anyoneââ¬â¢s work go to waste (113). Ivan Denisovich Shukov acquainted himself with many people who helped him discover himself and his limits when it came to survival. He did not want to degrade himself by begging like Fetyukov had done but he instead found a way to benefit himself by not even asking directly. He discovered that regardless of his tough situations, he still found himself quite optimistic and proud of his work. Those whom he views positively and respected became a type of role model for him and he learned from them. He also learned from those whom he thought of negatively in such a way that he would never stoop down to their level. He was a proud person and kept his pride throughout his time at the labor camp.
